what is it to have it all?

Many people say that they wish they didn’t have to work, they wish that they could win the lottery, because then they’d be able to do what they really want.

In essence, it is about living the life that they want to live.

Yet, when you ask how they would be living their life, most say that they will simply be on holiday for the rest of their lives. (I used to be one of those)

But scratch the surface of that a little. What is it that people think the lifelong holiday will give them?

I invite you to step back for a moment and imagine that you are living the life of your dreams right now. Suspend any disbelief you might have, for now. Everything is exactly how you want it to be. What are you doing? How are you feeling? Who is the person you are? How are you being? Take some time to find the answers to these questions and come back and read the rest of the article later.

Done?

And now, the million dollar question...how can you start living that today, more and more, here and now?

We live in a fast society, where we want everything delivered instantly – instant results, from email to microwaves. So we often think about the life we want to live, and then because we can’t see how we can get it n-o-w, we give up on the idea. It seems too far away and unlikely.

The more steeped we are in our current reality, the more we focus on what is right in front of our eyes, the more we keep ourselves chained to that reality. Read that again – chained, yes, CHAINED to that reality. Is this what you want?

The solution is to start focusing on the life you want, and bringing in as many elements of that into your current life. Then instead of seeing what isn’t already here, see what IS already here and appreciate it. Then do more and more of it, until one day, you get to the "tipping point".

Don’t wait until tomorrow to start living your dream life. You may think that it is just a small element, but yes!! It is a start. No, not even "a start" but "THE start". After all, every child learns to walk with the first step.

Like money, all the small bits soon add up.

Action Points

Step back for a moment and imagine that you are living the life of your dreams right now. Suspend any disbelief you might have, for now. Everything is exactly how you want it to be. What are you doing? How are you feeling? Who is the person you are? How are you being?

Start doing more of what you enjoy.
Start finding ways to feel those feelings.
Start being the person you are in your dreams.

Live life today.

Appreciate everything that you possibly can.

Quote

No quote this month; just this poem I’d like to share.

I ran into a stranger as he passed by,
"Oh excuse me please" was my reply.
He said, "Please excuse me too;
I wasn't watching for you."
We were very polite, this stranger and I.
We went on our way and we said good-bye.
But at home a different story is told,
How we treat our loved ones, young and old.
Later that day, cooking the evening meal,
My son stood beside me very still.
When I turned, I nearly knocked him down.
"Move out of the way," I said with a frown.
He walked away, his little heart broken.
I didn't realize how harshly I'd spoken.
While I lay awake in bed,
God's still small voice came to me and said,
"While dealing with a stranger, common courtesy you use,
but the children you love, you seem to abuse.
Go and look on the kitchen floor,
You'll find some flowers there by the door.
Those are the flowers he brought for you.
He picked them himself: pink, yellow and blue.
He stood very quietly not to spoil the surprise,
you never saw the tears that filled his little eyes."
By this time, I felt very small,
And now my tears began to fall.
I quietly went and knelt by his bed;
"Wake up, little one, wake up," I said.
"Are these the flowers you picked for me?"
He smiled, "I found 'em, out by the tree.
I picked 'em because they're pretty like you.
I knew you'd like 'em, especially the blue."
I said, "Son, I'm very sorry for the way I acted today;
I shouldn't have yelled at you that way."
He said, "Oh, Mom, that's okay.
I love you anyway."
I said, "Son, I love you too,
and I do like the flowers, especially the blue."
